Learning objective: After reading this article, learners will be able to describe key barriers to patient participation in chronic graft-versus-host disease clinical trials, as well as approaches to address these challenges.

Clinical trials provide an important opportunity to improve understanding of chronic-graft-versus host disease (cGvHD) and evaluate new prevention and treatment approaches. However, patient participation in clinical trials can be influenced by a range of factors, including practical, emotional, and clinical considerations.1–3 Understanding these factors may help inform approaches to better support patients throughout the clinical trial process.

The GvHD Hub spoke with Steven Pavletic, Andrew Harris, and Corey Cutler to gain their expert insights regarding key barriers to patient participation in cGvHD clinical trials, as well as possible approaches to address these challenges.
